Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults

The parish provides a range of activities for children and teens. These include spiritual, catechetical and pastoral activities as well as games, dance, sport, art and craft, drama. Children also serve on the altar, sing in the choir etc. We are committed to the protection and safeguarding of these children and young people in accordance with the guidance from the Archdiocese of Birmingham.
THE CHILD PROTECTION OFFICER
Each Parish in each Diocese has to nominate a person to be responsible to the Child Protection Agency for the clearance of everyone who, in the course of their work for the Parish has contact with children or with vulnerable adults. This involves the filling in of a rather daunting form and the Protection officer has to examine certain documents which provide evidence of the person’s identity. No one should mind or worry about this somewhat intrusive process since we all have to go through this procedure, and it is after all extremely important to safeguard our children. The form then has to checked by the Criminal Records Bureau.
The Child Protection Officer for St Peters is Mrs Bernadette Mackie. Bernie can be contacted through the sacristy and in complete confidence about any relevant problem or worry.
