200 club
Overture
Our Parish was not founded in 1858 but it was in that year that the Parish base was transferred from Grafton Manor, which is situated half a mile along the B4091 towards Worcester. The year 2009 marked the 150th anniversary since the building of St Peter’s Church was begun. The building work took place between 1859 and 1861.
In 2010 stained glass was installed in the church’s west wall rose window. The window is dedicated to the English and Welsh martyrs who suffered and died for the Faith during the persecutions in the 16th & 17th centuries. The window was paid for with money collected by the 200 Club and was blessed by our Archbishop, Bernard Longley, on 8th September 2010.
New lighting has been installed both inside and outside the church. New guttering and drain pipes have been erected and the roof and exterior stonework has been repaired. Our next projects are painting the interior of the church and restoring the organ.
200 Club
The 200 Club is a form of lottery. All participants are allocated a permanent number and pay £1 a week. A draw takes place each week, generally on Tuesday morning after 9.15 a.m. Mass. One prize of £100 is paid each week to the person who ‘owns’ the winning number. Twice a year, at Pentecost and in Advent, a jackpot of £200 is paid out in addition to the weekly prize of £100. All other money is deposited in the Parish Restoration Fund. Since the club was started in December 2004 to date (May 2015), £58,697 has been donated to the parish.
Joining the Club
If you wish to join and are willing to pay £1 each week, please complete the bottom section of this form and place it in the 200 Club box at the back of Church or send it to the Club Administrator. Either way the Administrator will contact you, allocate you a number and advise you what to do next.
