Today’s Liturgy Job’s view of life is rather pessimistic & depressing. Do we sometimes feel like Job did? We fret & are restless oppressed by a life of drudgery. Sadly, often our slavery is self inflicted. Much of Jesus’ work is healing. When we are weak he can raise us up, bind our wounds & set us on our feet again. He takes us by the hand, strengthens & heals our broken hearts. We need his strength to fulfil the duty put into our hands of preaching the Gospel message & devoting our lives to the service of others.
Catholic Education Council The existence of our schools & institutions of learning was a hard won right & invaluable in Catholic evangelism. We welcome pupils from St Peter’s school for their input at the 10.30 Mass. Today’s 2nd collection is taken nationally for the Catholic Education Council.
Thirst for Change with CAFOD 1 in 8 people around the world cannot access clean water. As Christians, we can’t stand by & watch while others suffer. The world’s most powerful nations (G8) meet in May. We want David Cameron to ensure they take real steps to turn the tide on water poverty. Our faith calls us to act-so let justice flow like a river. Women & children in the poorest countries spend up to 8 hours each day collecting water. This robs them of their chance to earn a living, go to school, or simply spend time together as a family. Please, sign a card & either post it (freepost) or put it in the box, this week or next week, at the back of church.
