"Your Word is a lamp to my feet, a light on my path" – Psalm 109 v 105 (Jerusalem Bible). Over 2,000 years ago the writer of Psalm 109 clearly believed that God's holy word would guide him on his journey through life.
Today we not only have God's word in its entirety (in the form of the Old and New Testaments) but we also have our understanding of the scriptures increased by the teachings of the Church.
As Christians we are all called to bear witness to our faith in the Risen Christ – by our words as well as our deeds. Although we all know that 'actions speak louder than words' we are called by the Church to not only give witness by our actions but also by our words.
To do this, we need a reliable, authoritative source of information – such a source can be found in the writings of the Catholic Truth Society (website www.cts-online.org.uk). In St Peter's we have a small – rather neglected – selection of booklets and leaflets by the CTS that can be found in the stand at the back of church.
We need to increase the number and choice of booklets available but to that, we must first generate some funds with which to buy new material. To that end, until stocks last, EVERY CTS piece of literature on that stand is now on Sale at a special price.
There are a large number of leaflets on the stand – normally these are priced at 20p each. Now they are priced at any 10 for just £1-00.
The remaining booklets are priced at £1-95 normally – this range is now on Sale at just £1-00 for 3 Booklets.
Remember, this is a strictly "While Stocks Last" offer designed to enable us to buy new booklets from the CTS and other Catholic publishers e.g. Redemptorist Publications (website http://www.rpbooks.co.uk/).
It is to be hoped that in the coming months and years the range of Catholic literature made available at church will be increased – along with the opportunities to discuss and talk about what we read.
With your help, we can grow together in the Spirit and become true witnesses for our faith – a calling that our Lord has made to one and all who profess his name.
There are new fresh Redemptorist booklets, any 3 for a £1. Please put money in the black wall safe on the pillar.
